Elmira Gymnastics Club Master Staff

Dave Sherman

Dave founded the Elmira Gymnastics Club and continues to coach and teach all levels of classes and team. Dave taught Physical Education in grades K-12 in the Elmira School District, and has 36 years of coaching experience in nine sports. He received his B.S. degree in Physical Education from Cortland State and his M.S. from Elmira College. This is his 26th year as a gymnastic instructor.

Laura (Sherman) Monichetti

Laura trained for 10 years with Elmira Gymnastics and competed for 5 years through Level 8. She was the New York State Champion of Level 7 in 1992. Laura earned her M.S.Ed. in Elementary Education from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999. She has taught for 3 years in elementary schools in New Jersey. Laura is now the Elmira Gymnastics Club Director, and she coaches all levels of gymnastics at the club.

Corinne Mayer

Corinne has her B.S. and M.S. in Physical Education from Cortland State. She is a Physical Education teacher for the Corning Painted-Post School District. As a gymnast, Corinne received the Female Athlete of the year at the University of Southern Colorado and became a 4 time All-American at Cortland. She is a Judge through level 10.

Sean Mayer

Sean is an outstanding coach and teacher. He has attended State, Regional, Eastern and National competitions. Sean has taught and coached all levels at the Elmira Gymnastics Club. Sean specializes in coaching the team gymnasts on all events.

Lindsey Larsen

Lindsey has been involved with competitive gymnastics for 15 years. During that time she competed through level 8 in Massachusetts, and was the level 7 state champion on floor. Today she is working on completing her degree in Business Administration at Elmira College. While at Elmira College, Lindsey is part of the 2007 National Champion cheerleading team.

Andrea Tarshus

Andrea has a B.A. in Communications, Paralegal Certificate and Pre-Law Program Graduate from Marist College with honors. Andrea competed in gymnastics at the Elmira Gymnastics Club through Level 7 and was the I Love NY Level 5 Champion with a specialization in vault. She has 10 years of overall training and experience in gymnastics and has coached gymnasts from infants through Level 9 while located in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Amanda Stewart

Amanda has had 7 Years of gymnastics experience with the Elmira Gymnastics Club. She is a former Level 7 I Love NY Champion and a succesful Level 8 State Competitor. Amanda is currently a student at Mansfield University, majoring in elementary and special education. Her favorite event is beam and she was the Level 8 beam champion at the Judges Cup meet.
